# Voidger Time

> Protect projects with Vaults, schedules, and restore points. Explore Voidger Time’s versioned encrypted backups, powered by Kopia.

A copy shows your work as it is now. A history lets you return to how it was before. Time uses Kopia to create encrypted Vaults and arrange restore points on a timeline.

## What you can do.

1. **Before a major change**: Save a restore point before updating a project, reorganizing files, or starting an experiment. Keep an earlier version to explore and recover if needed.
2. **Recurring project protection**: Configure schedules for the folder that matters, with retention policies for its history. Choose the scope to protect instead of treating the whole computer as a single task.
3. **History in a destination you choose**: Keep a Vault locally, on an external drive, or in a compatible cloud. Kopia preserves versions with deduplication, avoiding repeated storage of identical content in every restore point.

## From the first step to the result.

1. **Create a Vault**: Choose the files to protect and a compatible destination for their history.
2. **Save restore points**: Create a version manually or configure the available schedules.
3. **Explore and restore**: Find a point on the timeline and recover its content into a destination folder.

## Synchronization alone does not preserve the past

Combine Sync for current work with Time for history. They serve complementary roles, with settings and destinations you control.

## Your questions, answered.

### Is Time a complete operating-system clone?

No. Time protects the file scope you select in Vaults. It is not presented as whole-system imaging or complete computer recovery.

### What encryption does Time use?

Time uses Kopia encryption and a per-Vault passphrase. AGE is a separate layer for Transfer and Fusion; it is not applied on top of Vaults in this version.

### Will restoring overwrite the files I am working on?

The default workflow restores into an existing empty folder without merging with existing contents. Review the destination before restoring.

### Do schedules continue after I quit everything?

Execution depends on the configuration and lifecycle of the app or background agent. Do not assume that every schedule continues after fully quitting Voidger.

### Where is the Vault passphrase stored?

The passphrase is held in the operating system’s secure credential store. It is not published in transfer logs or exposed to the interface as password text.
